Hello Gathering Church, On Sunday we began our new series, Caring for Our Soul. As we begin this series, each of us is encouraged to create space for time with God throughout our days. We are invited to open our hearts and minds…and souls…to new learnings and spiritual practices as we jump into this series. Attuning ourselves: I cannot transform myself, or anyone else for that matter. What I can do is create the conditions in which spiritual transformation can take place, by developing and maintaining a rhythm of spiritual practices that keep me open and available to God. (Ruth Hayley Barton) References to the Soul in Scripture:
When you look at the chart, what is your soul presently experiencing? Caring for our soul is of utmost importance as our soul is our lifeline to God and to life. By caring for our soul, we can move from finding ourselves empty with feelings of ‘just surviving’ to experiencing a rich and refreshing relationship to God and engagement in life. As you go about your week, create some time to focus on Psalm 23. What are the ‘green pastures’ and ‘quiet waters’ in your life these days? How can you spend times of refreshment there with God? The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.
May you know God’s refreshment this week. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday,
