...Hello Gathering Church, One of the names used to reveal God’s character is Jehovah Jireh, The Lord Will Provide. The Board and I lean into this name, especially the word, “will”. As we bring leadership to The Gathering, we believe that God WILL provide. We have seen this over and over again, in your lives, in the life of the congregation, and in the lives of our neighbours. We are all encouraged to take on this posture of hope. We are grateful for the many provisions to The Gathering both recently and throughout our 20 years as a church. 2024 Financial Update It is with rejoicing, that I announce that we are going to end 2024 with a surplus. Thank you for your generous financial contributions to our ministry and mission. Your generosity allowed for us to express God’s love and ways to many. It also allowed us to offer opportunities for all ages to participate in times of faith formation, worship and relationship building. Thank you! We are also thankful for the organizations and individuals who have supported our ministry through grants and donations. Finance and Accounting Liaison Update We are grateful that God provided us with direction to staff a new position in 2024. Meredith was our first Finance and Accounting Liaison. Meredith gave close attention to the many details of finances and accounting. Her spirit of joy, her attention to detail and her coming alongside helped us to be informed and up-to-date as a church. In November, Meredith communicated to the Board that she was going to step down from the role. We are so grateful for the time Meredith gave us to find someone to fill this role and also for Meredith’s generosity in ending the year well and in offering excellent training as she exits the role. God has provided a new person for this role. We rejoice! Marlene Hoekstra started in the role on January 1. Marlene brings years of financial and accounting experience to this role and a deep commitment to God and the life of the church. We are very grateful for Marlene and invite you to welcome her into this role. 20th Anniversary We are looking forward to celebrating God’s provision towards The Gathering over the past 20 years. We hope that you will join us this Sunday to celebrate this milestone. We will meet for worship at 10:30 and then move into our luncheon. There will be a 20 minute break between as we set up tables and chairs and the serving tables. We invite people to help out with the set-up if you are able. Lunch is provided. You are welcome to bring your own dishes and cutlery and there will also be dishes and cutlery available. God has and will provide. In this we rejoice. Hoping to see you on Sunday Catherine
